Cresta
Better together, by design: Cresta builds the AI platform that brings human and AI agents together in enterprise customer conversations. Motto rebuilt its brand around that belief, from a name read as the crest of a wave to a symbol drawn from Lissajous curves and a system that moves like a good conversation.
The brief
Cresta came out of Stanford’s AI lab and out of stealth in 2020, and by its Series D it had the traction and the technology to lead its category. Its brand had not kept pace. The identity felt visually underpowered, without the clarity, confidence or adaptability that a fast-moving enterprise AI market demands. As the platform moved from assisting human agents to running autonomous AI agents of its own, Cresta needed a brand that matched the scale of its vision and spoke to enterprise buyers with the authority of a category leader.
The system
Motto started with strategy: a workshop, a brand audit and an analysis of the category landscape. The rallying idea that came out of it is Better together, the belief that AI reaches its full potential when it elevates human expertise rather than replacing it. The name became the anchor. Cresta is the crest of a wave, the moment where momentum and transformation meet, and the system is built on the three themes that follow from it, transformation, adaptability and flow, carried through art direction, iconography and the new website.
The identity
The logo and symbol come from Lissajous curves, patterns formed by harmonic oscillations that echo the rhythm of a conversation between two parties. A stylized C and the flowing peak of the A give the wordmark its movement, and the standalone symbol is confident, adaptive and instantly recognizable. Diatype by Dinamo anchors the typography in a structured grayscale, an expanded accent palette tested for accessibility and contrast brings energy to UI, data and product, and a motion pack lets the brand move for the first time.
Outcome
Cresta comes away with a brand that honors where it has been and gives shape to where it is going: one fluid, confident system, from symbol to website and product, built to lead a category that changes by the month.
